
Towards a National Conference - Women and Housing
This session at the National Housing Conference was convened by Women's Housing Limited, the Community Housing Federation of Victoria and the Victorian Department of Human Services Housing Division
Facilitator: Maree Davenport, Principal, Phoenix Public Affairs, VIC
Objective: Building on the success of the 2009 inaugural Women's Housing Futures Conference, all women who have an interest in, a passion for and who are working in social housing were invited to be part of a conversation to generate and explore ideas and strategies, towards a National Conference - Women and Housing.
Research: Women's Housing Limited launched the research report "Women in the Community Sector: Building a Workforce for the 21st Century" by Dr Selina Tually (Research Fellow, Flinders University) with Ms Kaye Hampton and Ms Marg Osborne.
Outcome: The attendees were overwhelmingly supportive of a National Women's Housing Conference. Themes and objectives were nominated and will be further developed.

Opened by the Minister for Housing The Hon Tanya Plibersek MHR and including input from academics, affordable housing providers, State Government, property developers and peak body stakeholders - this inaugural conference promotes women's housing and the professional development of women working in the housing sector.
