Women's Housing Limited (WHL) is committed and contractually required to ensure tenants are linked in to adequate support to provide them the best opportunity to pursue their personal goals while maintaining secure, safe housing in the long term.

As identified in the landmark report "Too big to ignore" Issues for Australian Women's Housing 2006-2025, women are particularly disadvantaged because

• women have lower wages

• are over represented in part-time and casual employment

• are primary carers to children, older relatives and persons with a disability and as a result have periods out of the workforce

• are the majority of single-parent and single person households

• comprise 60% of those who rely upon a pension as retirement income

• are more concentrated in public and private rental in areas of higher housing stress; and

• are more likely to be confronting domestic and/or family violence.
